Starting today, a new UI is being rolled out for Blogger users
. Nothing will change (yet) for your readers, but your dashboard, post editor, and all the rest are being overhauled.
Log in to Blogger In Draft
to see if they've made the changes available to you yet. Blogger In Draft is where the Blogger team does beta-testing of… Continue

Google has released an official Blogger app for Android devices
. You can save an idea as a draft (I have a dozen or so posts in draft form at any given time), post photos from your phone's camera, or browse your blogs' existing content. (A blog is, after all, a content management system.)

Blogger has just announced
that they're making more fonts - a total of 77 - available to Blogger blogs. The source is Google Fonts
. There are some really odd ones ... it'd be fun to type in Old English calligraphy, but I don't recommend it for long posts!

Some bloggers send the whole content of every post to their RSS feeds, but many choose to send only the beginning of each post, so that readers will click through. Blogger now allows you to choose, on a post-by-post basis, how much of the beginning of your post to put into the RSS feed. The new feature is called a "Jump Break".…

Blogger spent the last year responding to their last survey of feature requests, and cranked out quite a few. I mentioned some of them here. Now they're asking again.
What feature would you like to see added to Blogger?

I've just discovered a handy tool: page2rss.com
will create an RSS feed you can subscribe to in Google Reader, even if the web site that publishes the page doesn't offer a feed of its own.
Here's an example. The Cleveland Wine School, now the American Wine School
, is run by Marianne Frantz, a terrific wine educator. In addition to her educational efforts, she runs the Cellar Door, a wine tasting room that… Continue

While many of us blog are on other platforms besides Blogger/Blogspot, and we're treating the Blogger 11th Birthday Fiesta
as a primarily social event, I just want to mention
that it's a significant cause for celebration because Blogger really…

As you know, Ning has converted from free and premium accounts to only premium accounts. After much discussion we've decided to keep the account but to go with the cheapest option at $19.95 per year. This gives us most of what we had before, except it doesn't include the events feature.
Since most people were RSVPing on the Erie Moose Facebook page anyway, I don't think this is a huge issue.
But then again not everyone is on… Continue

There's more good news from the Blogger team at Google: the comments system has been completely overhauled.
My biggest complaint with using Blogger as a blogging platform has always been comment moderation. My choices were to allow any anonymous schmuck to comment (spam magnet!), approve comments one by one until people register, or basically not allow comments at all. What I really wanted was to… Continue

The above link will take you to a public Google Calendar page listing events for Erie Moose. We'll be using this for events after we subscribe to Ning Mini. (Ning has gone pay, and the Ning Mini pay tier doesn't provide any events… Continue

Would you like your readers to be able to pass along a post to their friends on Facebook or Twitter? A new set of "share" buttons makes it easier.
This post on the Blogger Buzz blog
tells you how to activate the new buttons. They appear at the bottom of each post. I've turned them on on my blog - see, for example, this post.

Blogger users now have a lot more options for the appearance of their blogs. The Template Designer that was in beta is now available to everyone. See my blog for an example, myfuturepast.blogspot.com.
